Deep cleaning in Washington DC

Deep cleaning in DC, with the checklist published.

The first-visit clean for a home that has not had professional attention in a while. Same flat pricing as every other clean, so you know the number before you book.

The word deep clean means something different at every company in DC, and the reviews show what happens next: someone pays for a deep clean, gets a regular clean, and finds out at the invoice. So here is exactly what ours is. It is the standard checklist, done at a slower pace that reaches the things a maintenance clean skips, with the additions listed below. It is priced by bedrooms and bathrooms like everything else, and inside the oven and fridge are included, not add-ons.

Most clients book one deep clean, then switch to every two weeks. The recurring rate is lower because the house never gets far from clean again.

When to book it

When a deep clean is the right call

Before you start a recurring schedule. Before guests or a party. After renovation dust has settled. When you have moved into a place the previous tenant did not clean. When it has been more than a few months since anyone scrubbed grout. In all of those, a regular clean would leave the cleaner short of time, so we price the deep clean to give them the hours.

DC rowhouses in Petworth, Capitol Hill and Bloomingdale benefit most: radiators, stair spindles, deep sills and older bathroom tile all reward the slower pace. Arlington and Bethesda homes get the same list.

The checklist

What a deep clean covers

The standard list plus the items below, in every room, with the oven and fridge interiors included. The calculator prices it by home size.

  • Everything in a standard clean

Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors and the photo finish, done at a slower pace than a recurring visit.

  • Baseboards and door frames

Wiped by hand in every room, including the tops of door frames and the trim behind furniture that moves.

  • Switch plates, handles and vents

The high-touch, low-attention surfaces: light switches, door handles, cabinet pulls, and the visible face of air vents.

  • Grout and tile

Bathroom grout lines, shower door tracks and the tile behind the toilet scrubbed rather than wiped.

  • Blinds, sills and ledges

Every slat, every sill, and the ledges above doors and cabinets that only get dusted when someone is looking.

  • Inside the oven and fridge

Both interiors are included in every deep clean at no extra charge. Racks, drip tray and door glass; fridge shelves, drawers and door seals.

Recurring visits start at $120 for a one bed, one bath every two weeks. See the full price table on the home page.

Questions about this clean

Straight answers.

How long does a deep clean take?

Longer than a regular clean of the same home, which is why it is priced higher. Pick a morning window and the cleaner works through the day if the home needs it. The price does not change with the hours.

Does the deep clean include inside the oven and fridge?

Yes, both, at no extra charge. The calculator shows them as included the moment you pick deep clean. On a standard or recurring clean they are $40 add-ons.

Should I book a deep clean before starting recurring service?

Yes, and the calculator does this automatically: the first visit on any recurring plan is billed at the one-time rate because the home has never been cleaned by us, with $40 off. Choose deep clean instead if it has been a long time since a professional clean.
