House cleaning in Columbia Heights
Columbia Heights cleaning, priced before you book.
Rowhouses, English basements and the condo blocks around 14th and Irving. Pick your size, see the flat rate, book a slot.
Columbia Heights is two kinds of home in the same few blocks. There are the 1910s rowhouses, most of them split into an upstairs unit and an English basement, often shared by three or four people who each want the kitchen left the way they like it. And there are the newer buildings around DCUSA, which are ordinary apartments with lifts, front desks and no stairs to carry anything up. The clean is the same checklist either way, but the job is not, and the price on screen already accounts for the size of what you have.
Group houses are the booking we get most here. If several of you are splitting the cost, book it under one name and put the shared spaces first in the notes: kitchen, bathrooms, hallway and stairs. That is usually where the argument is, and it is the part a fortnightly clean actually solves.

Supplies, insurance and tax included. Your first visit takes longer, so it is normally billed at the one time rate of $230. We cap it at your regular price of $185, so the first clean never costs more than the ones after it. Both prices move with the size of your home and any extras you add.

When to book it
Stairs, basements and the parking problem
The rowhouses here nearly all have a steep flight of front steps and a second flight inside, and the English basement below has its own door under the stoop. Tell us which unit is yours when you book, because from the pavement they look like one house. Basement flats also hold damp more than the floors above, so the bathroom extractor and the window sills get more attention in the checklist than they would upstairs.
Parking is genuinely hard on the residential streets, and most of them are permit-only during the day. It changes nothing about your price. If you have a spot in a building garage or a rear alley pad, put it in the notes and it saves the cleaner ten minutes at the start of the visit.

The checklist
What a standard clean covers
Every visit, every room, the same list. A first visit or a deep clean runs slower and reaches baseboards, blinds and door frames.
Kitchen
Counters, backsplash and sink scrubbed. Outside of every appliance. Cabinet fronts wiped. Floor washed by hand at the edges.
Bathrooms
Tub, shower, tile and grout line scrubbed. Toilet inside and out. Mirrors and fixtures polished streak free.
Bedrooms
Beds made with hotel corners. Surfaces dusted top to bottom. Under accessible furniture vacuumed.
Living areas
Dusted high to low, including sills, baseboards, blinds and switch plates. Upholstery vacuumed.
Floors throughout
Vacuumed and mopped, with corners and edges done by hand instead of a machine pass.
Finish
Trash out, fresh liners, and a photo of every room sent to you before your cleaner leaves.
Recurring visits start at $120 for a one bed, one bath every two weeks. See the full price table on the home page.
Questions about this clean
Straight answers.
We are four people in a group house. How does that work?
Book it under one name and one address. Put the shared rooms first in the notes and we start there, so the kitchen, bathrooms and stairs are done even if bedrooms are locked or occupied. Most group houses here run every two weeks.
Do you clean English basement units?
Yes, and they are priced like any other home by bedrooms and bathrooms. Say it is the basement unit when you book so the cleaner uses the right door and does not knock upstairs.
Is there anywhere for the cleaner to park?
Usually not, and it does not change your price. If you have a garage space or an alley pad, mention it in the notes.
